2017 - 2018 Guatemala Medical Service Trip
The 2017-2018 Interfaith Guatemala Medical Service Trip will take place over Spring Break from March 3rd through March 11th, 2018. We will take 12 students who wish to pursue a career in the medical field in some way. Each of these students will work side by side with an internist, pediatrician, pharmacist, and nurse. Students will also work independently teaching dental care, fitting glasses, and praying with patients. The experience is remarkable and has been a crucial opportunity for students who have gone on to medical school as well as other fields of health care.
The commitment to this trip goes beyond the week of service in Guatemala. The team will meet at least once a week for 90 minute meetings throughout the academic year to prepare for the clinic. The team will also conduct fundraisers and educational presentations. This experience is fulfilling, but requires approximately the same time commitment as a 3-credit hour course with a lab.
