The Central Utility Plant (CUP) distributes utilities from its location on Dana Avenue to the buildings on-campus via a pipe system that is mostly underground. At the CUP, water is heated or cooled as needed before being transported to the buildings via state of the art high efficiency equipment, including Cooling Towers. The chemical-free water treatment for the Cooling Towers saves over one million gallons of water per year.
Low flow water fixtures and water closets have decreased water consumption by 20%. These more efficient fixtures include low flow faucets, urinals, proximity sensor toilets, and dual flush toilets. Proximity sensor toilets flush automatically while dual flush toilets offer two manual flush options of either high or low flow.
