Workplace Communication  

Communication is an exchange of information between people by means of speaking, writing, or using a common system of signs or behavior to reach an understanding.  Communication is an exchange of information, viewpoints and feedback.

At last year's divisional meeting, we spent time talking with each other to understand who we are, what we do, and how we work together.  Feedback gathered from the June 2011 divisional meeting revealed a common theme of Communication. 

66% of responses last year indicated Communication and Teamwork are essential. 

When asked what could be done differently, Communication was most often mentioned. 

Communication was noted as one area that we as individuals could change for the better.


Communication is an important part of our work, and this year our divisional meeting focused on Workplace Communication.  

In the month prior to this year's meeting, conversations centering on current communication efforts took place within departments utilizing a Communications Worksheet.

At the meeting during breakfast, introductions and communication icebreaker activities continued the emphasis on communication efforts. 

Later in the meeting, a breakout session featuring specific department workgroups focused on comments that were gathered during the advance work with the Communication Worksheets.
