The Brueggeman Center for Dialogue

Refugee and Asylee Empowerment

There are some 70 million refugees in the world. The nightmares tales of their lives are stories we barely hear because of the sheer scale of the issue. Solving it globally is one of those issues that are so complex that we all feel it to be hopeless. But the work we can to and in which we can make a difference is locally. Cincinnati has some 30,000 + refugees and asylees. These are all legal immigrants who have come to Cincinnati through very complicated lottery systems and want the opportunity for a new life. The Brueggeman Center has been involved in this work since 2004. Beginning around 2013 we partnered with the Junior League of Cincinnati and out of that partnership emerged The Refugee Empowerment Initiative, RefugeeConnect and The Immigrant and Refugee Law Center.
