The Xavier University Dementia Care Summit is designed to bring together professionals, family members, and care partners to spark dialogue around important issues for persons with dementia and promote connections among caregivers at all levels. This year’s theme Holistic Approaches to Enhance Life focuses on approaches to enhance the quality of life of those living with memory loss.  Conference participants will learn and experience care methods related to cognitive, physical, spiritual, and environmental aspects. 

Keynote Speaker: Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA
Humor and Caregiving – Learning How to Laugh

Teepa Snow is one of the world’s leading specialists in dementia education with over 30 years of clinical practice in geriatrics. She developed the Positive Approach program to optimize services for professionals and care partners of persons with dementia.  Teepa’s approach reflects her professional background, work experience, medical research, and first hand caregiving experiences. She will lead participants involved in caregiving to recognize and use humor to create a more positive and effective partnership and connection. 

Other presentations at the Dementia Summit include current medical research on preventing Alzheimer’s disease, the power of exercise, environmental changes using Montessori approaches, mindfulness, and spirituality care for dementia care.  Please select the Overview & Schedule link to learn more.
