Our Partners

CBI is a collaborative enterprise at heart. We work in partnership with residents in all of the communities we engage with and strive to get everyone to the table to ensure that all voices are heard. We are a partnership between Xavier University and the United Way. This gives us the unique opportunity to engage communities with faculty and the resources of a major university as well as the resources, alignment and generous donors at United Way.

We also work regularly with the greater Cincinnati Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC). Our work on Place Matters and many community quality of life plans, and research on community development and housing topics makes them a valuable partner and the staffs of LISC and CBI are often working as a team on any number of projects.

CBI is working with the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County and the City of Norwood on a regular basis. We always want to be working in community with the collaboration of the local jurisdiction. In recent years that has also taken us to Clermont County, Covington and Newport in KY, and to Dearborn County in Indiana. We have also worked with Middletown, Mt. Healthy, and a number of other jurisdictions in the region.

Our relationships with the many community based organizations and lead agencies in the communities where we work are instrumental to our success. Organizations like Price Hill Will and Santa Maria, and Severn Hills Houses in the West End, and the Madisonville Community Redevelopment Corporation are key to the achievements in their communities and our connections are long-lasting and change as the work changes. Sometimes we are learning from them, and sometimes they from us. In most cases, like with the Avondale community and ACDC we have been partners for over a decade.

We also work with regional organizations like Cincinnati Public Schools, the Community Action Agency (CAA), the Port of Greater Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, Invest in Neighborhoods, the CDC Association, Impact for Health and many others to help them think about how they connect in community and engage residents, clients, customers and patrons. In these partnerships too, we help support their work and learn lessons in how to implement effective programs and strategies.

We also work with local corporate and non-profit partners to think about how they might do their work in more community-connected ways. In a recent assignment with Mercy Health Partners we completed surveys of residents in Bond Hill and Roselawn in anticipation of their new headquarters location, helped get them connected to the ongoing community planning initiative, and are now supporting with between Mercy and the communities of Bond Hill and Roselawn as they develop and begin to implement several new health initiatives.
