Dr. Judith Lewis

Interim Dean, College of Nursing

Dr. Judith H. Lewis became interim dean of the College of Nursing July, 2019. She holds a bachelor’s of science in nursing and a master’s of science with a major in nursing from The Ohio State University, College of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Lewis holds a doctorate in education from the University of Cincinnati in educational administration, with support areas in higher education and research. Her research interests are in the area of the scholarship of teaching and learning. Dr. Lewis has over 30 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member teaching face-face, hybrid and online and as an administrator. She has taught and coordinated courses in pre licensure and BSN Completion programs at the undergraduate level and graduate level specialty and core courses. She has served as coordinator for three accelerated second degree programs, and developed two additional programs, chaired curriculum and admission, progression, and retention committees for both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs; and  has developed proposals and implemented graduate level nursing education/CNS options, clinical nurse leader programs and  doctor of  nursing practice programs. Dr. Lewis has held director, associate dean and dean positions at private and public institutions. She was a member of the first group of educators to train as on site evaluators for CCNE and chaired at least 12 on site evaluation teams. She has served as a co-chair for the Accreditation Review Committee and  Vice Chair and Chair for the Board of Commissioners.
