You may never have thought of yourself as Protestant before attending a Catholic university. You maybe just follow Jesus, or love the church, or have questions about the traditions and theologies you were raised with. Whatever the case may be, there is a place for you in the CFJ.

Don't forget-- the gifts of the Ignatian tradition are not just for Catholics. Our retreats provide deep reflection and community that is sure to draw any Christian closer to God. Companion groups, our small group ministry, allows you to be transformed by the sustained practice of community, whether is through Bible Study, an Interfaith group or a Christian Life Community.

If you are asking questions about your faith, seeking a life of meaning or hoping to draw closer to God--there is a place for you at the CFJ. Keep reading to discover some ways Protestant students can grow their faith.

We have worship on campus, a Gospel Choir sponsored by the CFJ, but also campus has student organizations and Cincinnati has a rich church life that will all help you grow. Keep reading for details!

Sundays at 8 pm in the GSC Clock Tower Lounge

We aim to create a space on campus where students from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds can come together to worship, pray, engage Scripture and encounter God. When we gather, we are the church. We live on and around campus, making this place our home. Though many of us have home churches elsewhere, we hope that when we gather together, we can become home as we seek God as a community.

We deliberately engage the differences in our traditions of theology and worship to draw nearer to God collectively. We need the breadth of who we are to come together to be able to truly engage the God who lovingly created us all. We practice our faith, not just with what we know and do well, but by taking risks and trying new things. In trying, failing and trying again, we find God. We hope that this space is refreshing, a space to re-charge and rejuvenate, to slow down or pause, to just be, at a different pace than is demanded from the rest of campus life.

Join us. Your presence will make a difference.

GOSPEL CHOIR

Every Thursday at 7 pm in Long Recital Hall in Edgecliff, you can find the Gospel Choir singing, praying, and supporting each other. Rooted in the African-American church experience, this is a place to explore that tradition, grow in your faith, be nurtured in community... and sing your heart out. You will leave it week filled with God's Spirit to carry you through. The choir leads worship at Common Ground monthly, sings in the city, and hosts their own concerts. Contact Rev. Nelson Pierce, Jr., the Gospel Choir Director, with questions or to get involved.

CCO

Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) calls students to serve Jesus Christ with their entire lives. CCO seeks to create a space in which students can explore the claims of Jesus Christ and grow in their faith. CCO strives to develop habits of worship and prayer. CCO hopes that through community, students begin to understand how their faith impacts every area of life, including academic studies and future vocations. Details.

LOCAL CHURCHES

Cincinnati offers a rich landscape of churches, representing a wide variety of traditions and denominations. This list is not at all comprehensive, but provides some opportunities for worship in the communities around campus. All the churches listed are accessible with a car, but just a short Metro ride away. Links to directions have been provided (though the CFJ is not responsible for whether or not the directions are correct).

If you are interested in attending church with someone else from the Xavier community, the CFJ keeps a religious ride board--a list of folks who are willing to share rides to their church or faith community. Email Abby if you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity.
