Cincinnati Federation of Colored Women’s Clubs

Students in two history classes, HIST 415: Practicum in Public History and HIST 324: African-American Struggle for Equality did research in Ancestry and local newspapers to add to the existing history of the Cincinnati Federation of Colored Women’s Clubs. Eigel Center Community-Engaged Fellows, Natalie Loux, and Charles Lyles, and AmeriCorps members Andrea Gutmann Fuentes used Ancestry and Sanford Fire Insurance maps to locate early members of the CFCWC. The statement of significance may be found here

The Carol Anne and Ralph V. Haile US Bank Foundation and a grant from the Ohio History Connection have paid for the marker.

The dedication will be Friday, November 5, at 11:00 at the CFCWC clubhouse (Hannaford mansion) at 1010 Chapel Street.
