Graley Herren, Professor of English, recently published a scholarly book, Dreams and Dialogues in Dylan’s Time Out of Mind (Anthem Press, 2021). The book examines one of the most ambitious albums by legendary singer-songwriter, civil rights icon, and Nobel laureate Bob Dylan. In Dreams and Dialogues Graley interprets Time Out of Mind as a series of provocative dreams and intertextual dialogues working on multiple levels: as murder ballads, as religious allegory, and as a deep meditation upon race in America.
