Building Sustainable Partnerships through Immersion and Virtual Exchange

The U.S. Department of Education recently awarded Diane Ceo-DiFrancesco, Associate Professor of Spanish, with the Fulbright-Hayes award. The Fulbright-Hayes award consists of a grant for her project, Building Sustainable Partnerships through Immersion and Virtual Exchange, which will be executed during the 2021-2022 academic year.

It includes a four week field study program in Colombia in partnership with the Jesuit university Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Cali. The grant will make it possible to train a group of 11 Spanish teachers and Xavier Spanish students in telecollaborative methodologies, while building competencies in Spanish language and enhancing intercultural development. The principle outcome is an increase in telecollaborative partnerships among schools, teachers and students in the U.S. and Colombia.

Congratulations, Professor Ceo-DiFrancesco!
