Annie Ray and the Velvet Longhorned Beetle

Annie Ray and her colleagues from the USDA, Utah Department of Agriculture, and the University of California just published a paper in Nature: Scientific Reports describing the pheromone of the invasive velvet longhorned beetle. This species is native to China and eastern Russia and has recently been detected in several US states. Lures baited with this pheromone are being developed for monitoring of this potential pest species. Full text can be found here.
