"Cue The Soloist" and "Czech It Out!"

Sonya Szabo-Reynolds, Adjunct Professor of Piano, has been invited to present an hour-long talk at the 2018 MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) National Conference in Orlando, Florida in March. Her topic, "Cue the Soloist," addresses techniques for teachers to employ in preparing the student competition winner for their concerto debut with orchestra. Professor Szabo-Reynolds has also been selected to present at the Ohio Music Teachers Association State Conference to be held in Cleveland in October, 2018. Her lecture-recital for that conference, entitled "Czech it Out! - Folk Inspired Gems for Young through Advanced Pianists" explores the repertoire by Czech composers Petr Eben, Leos Janacek, Karel Husa, and the remarkable female composer Vitezslava Kapralova. Sonya Szabo-Reynolds was named Ohio Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year 2016, and is currently President-Elect of Ohio Music Teachers Association. She has taught at Xavier University since 1993.
