Prioritizing

Welcome to the new year!

Whether you stayed here or traveled (or TRIED to travel despite the weather), I hope that you found time over the past weeks for some year-end rest and reflection.

Some of you, I know, packed an extraordinary amount into a too-short break, conducting research, attending academic conferences, and even leading student trips. I look forward to hearing your stories -- such as those from the faculty and students who presented their research last week at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in Boston

And now you are sprinting again, fully engaged with classes and candidate visits and task forces and more.

Before we all get caught up in the tyranny of the urgent, I encourage you to take a moment to set aside time for your priorities. In addition to marking the CAS College Meetings on your calendars (see below), let me also recommend next week's inaugural Martin Luther King, Jr. Spirit Celebration.
