Questions and answers

On Monday we welcomed the Class of 2026 into our classrooms -- as many of us have done for many previous cohorts of first-year students.

This year our privilege to be entrusted with them has struck me anew.

Although the pandemic may not be entirely behind us, the students have brought back to campus an unmistakable pre-2020 energy. I find it life-giving.

My family this week also enters a new chapter in our own story. This year both of our children go (back) to college. The elder just arrived in Taipei for a long-delayed semester abroad, and this morning we'll move the younger into their Massachusetts dorm room.

No, I don't yet know how well we're handling the transition!

This I do know. As Emily and I entrust our own children to other college communities, I understand more than ever the trust that the families of our Xavier students have invested in us.

I'm thankful to share that privilege with all of you.
