Feeding season

|

‘Tis the season. Some of us, like Francis Xavier before us, are observing these Advent days in anticipation of the feast of Christ’s nativity.

Others mark our calendars with one (or more!) of the other venerable celebrations that cluster around the hibernal solstice—that recurring gift of our tilted planet.

All of us, I am confident, eagerly anticipate the week-after-exam-week lull.

And we do so, joyfully, by feeding one another. Breaking bread. Toasting friends and colleagues. The essential rituals of community.

Early morning donuts at the Center for Teaching Excellence.

Late-night tater tots at the dining hall.

Evening Study Break with the Dean in Alter Hall (thanks to SGA for the idea!)

And don’t forget the university-wide holiday party that the three four deans host each year in Smith Hall (details below). Hope to see you there!

This year, to top it all, one of Xavier's newer coaches modeled a novel way to express cura personalis while celebrating the gifts of Santa Cintas with the Xavier community.

Being eager learners, we in the Dean’s office thought we'd adapt the coach's practice to our own idiom. We’ll see if it catches on.

In the meantime, we send our warmest wishes to all of you for this season of feeding and being fed.
