College of Arts and Sciences

Thank You

This week Father Graham hosted his annual reception to honor those of you who serve our community as adjunct faculty members.

This year again I enjoyed the chance to thank some of you in person, and to hear more about your experiences—in life as well as with the Xavier students whom you teach and mentor.

The great diversity of your experiences enriches our community.

You are in your 20s or your 70s—or somewhere in between; in your first year at Xavier or your 34th. You are lawyers, orchestra members, businesswomen, actors, translators, storytellers and artists; priests, nuns, and rabbis; retired from teaching high school or working at P&G; mothers, fathers and grandparents; and scholars, some of you seeking full-time opportunities in painfully overcrowded academic fields.

We thank you too seldom. Your busy schedules don’t allow all of you to attend Father Graham’s reception, so let me thank you again here for all that you contribute to our Xavier community.
