Class Year/Year of Graduation:  2013

Major/Graduate Program: Accountancy/Finance - Minor in IT

Newly hired as (position, company):
Staff Tax Accountant @ Grant Thornton (Cincy)

Where did you hear about this professional opportunity, and what do you think contributed to being hired?  I found out about the position through numerous events that the Accounting Department hosted in the fall during recruitment season. First through "Meet the Firms" then I continued to meet with the recruiter whenever they were on Xavier's campus. I applied for the job through the Career Development's job board online.

How did Xavier Career Services help you along the way to achieve this accomplishment?  They were there to help revise resumes and work on mock interviews.

Based on your own experiences, what advice do you have for students as they gear up for their job/internship search?  Start as early as possible and continue to network with professionals when the opportunity is available. Even once you have a job offer stay active in the networking process. This can be valuable to meet new professionals plus one never knows when plans may change on behalf of the student or the company and it is important to have built a solid network during your time at Xavier.
