Remote Summer Resources

COVID-19 LIKELY CHANGED YOUR SUMMER PLANS.  HERE'S HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

Xavier University is committed to helping students gain meaningful experience, develop important skills, and build their professional networks despite the cancellation of many planned summer activities.

EMPLOYERS ARE STILL HIRING.  NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOUR INTERNSHIP & JOB SEARCH
Employers are quickly adjusting to remote recruiting, onboarding, and hiring and continue to post internships and full-time opportunities on Handshake.  Be sure your profile is complete, upload a polished version of your resume, follow employers of interest, and check weekly for new opportunities.

MICRO-INTERNSHIPS
Micro-internships are short-term professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns.  These projects enable you to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build your network as you seek the right full-time role.  Micro-internships can be paid or unpaid and typically range from 5-40 hours of work, providing opportunities for current students to gain skills and experience and recent alumni to bridge the gap between graduation and their first post-Xavier role.  Explore micro-internships through Parker-Dewey.

FLASH MENTORING
Build your network and learn from industry professionals through Xavier's Flash Mentoring Program.  Students can schedule virtual conversations with professionals to learn about career paths, industries, company insights, skills needed to be a competitive candidate, graduate schools, and more!

ENGAGE WITH EMPLOYERS VIRTUALLY
Many employers are hosting webinars, online information sessions, and virtual career fairs as they continue their recruiting efforts for jobs and internships.  Visit Handshake to see the full list of scheduled employer engagement events, and be sure to follow your favorite employers to receive updates when they post new positions and events.
