Xavier University and the Office of Multicultural Affairs are sponsoring “Economics of Integration,” a presentation and dialogue exploring the impact of integration in the United States on various races, cultures, sexual identities and faiths. The guest facilitator is Michael D. Griffin, executive director of DevonShireSmith Diversity and Education Solutions, a progressive, non-profit consulting and advocacy firm dedicated to the promotion of youth and development and social justice education.
The event takes place on Monday, Sept. 20, at 4:00 p.m. in the Conaton Learning Commons Kennedy Lecture Hall. It includes a panel discussion that encourages audience members to explore the impact of available financial resources for community development and the achievement of integration.
Griffin, of Detroit, received degrees in human service and psychology at Adrian College and a Master of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati. His passion for helping people has led him to be the co-founder and executive director of DevonShireSmith and Education Solutions.
Xavier’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, a department in the Division of Student Life and Leadership, works to help the University realize its diversity goals. The office provides services and programs to enrich the academic, cultural and social experiences of Xavier students.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, vist the event web page or call 513-745-3181.
