Muskies finish semester with 9-4-1 record | December 7, 2010

The hockey team ended the first semester on a strong note last weekend, taking two games on the road from a much improved Denison team.  We will go into the Christmas Holiday with a record of 9-4-1, which puts the team in a position to have a strong season – one of our best on record. The team has shown great progress since our first games and with each passing week, our experience is allowing us to become a stronger team.  Early in the season we struggled to hold leads or come back when trailing.  We continue to work on both our mental and physical toughness and look forward to some difficult test when we go on the road to Indiana and Eastern Kentucky and host Holy Cross and Louisville.  Special teams will be a key emphasis for us in the remaining games.  We need to get better killing penalties and we think we have found the right formula on the power play.  If we can execute in these situations and continue to defend from goal line to goal line, we have an opportunity to have an excellent season.

Only three home games left – come out and see the Muskies as we try to put together our best season on record!

On a side note, the Muskies are sad to announce that team President, Cully Naramore, will be transferring back home to Connecticut and will no longer be a member of the team. Cully's defensive play is a big reason for the Muskies great record. Cully will be missed by his teammates and coaches. We would like to thank Cully for his hard work, leadership, and dedication to the Xavier Ice Hockey program. We would also like to thank Cully for being a great teammate and friend.  The team's motto is to leave Xavier Ice Hockey better than when you came in and Cully certainly has done that. Thanks Cully for everything and good luck in your future endeavors. You will be missed!
