Xavier Players presents a romantic comedy in a cold isolated town named Almost, Maine

| March 19, 2012

Xavier Players presents Almost, Maine by John Cariani, a romantic comedy directed by guest director Mary Jo Beresford, from Thursday, March 22, through Sunday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. each day in the Gallagher Student Center Theatre.

Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 the day of the show for students, faculty and staff of Xavier and for seniors. Regular admission is $15. Tickets can be purchased online or by phone at 513-745-3939.

The story takes place on a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky, residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream.

Beresford has performed and stage-managed in several regional theatres and directed shows for many different Greater Cincinnati companies. She taught at Edgecliff College and the University of Cincinnati, and she served 13 years as choreographer for the Xavier University Singers.

She is now in her 28th year as a faculty member of the Northern Kentucky University Department of Theatre and Dance. While serving in the classroom, she has also directed productions for Northern Kentucky University Theatre and Summer Dinner Theatre.
