Xavier Concert Choir Embarks on 2009 Winter Tour

Cincinnati, OH -- The Xavier University Concert Choir takes to the road in January for a five-concert tour covering five states.
The Concert Choir is the primary vocal ensemble of Xavier University’s music department, and is under the direction of Tom Merrill, chair and Associate Professor of Music. The 53 singers will present music from their annual Lessons & Carols service, and will perform Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with organist Bryan Holt, an organ performance major from Northern Kentucky University.  The concerts also include: Whitacre: Water Night; Ives: Psalm 67; Rockin’ Jerusalem by Andre Thomas; “Alleluia” from Brazilian Psalm by Jean Berger; Ravel: Trois Chansons; Britten: Five Flower Songs; Ave Maris Stella – Trond Kverno;  Khvoshchinsky: Bogoroditse Dyevo; Tchesnekov: Salvation is Created (in Russian).
