Xavier Physical Plant staff to be recognized | May 15, 2010

Xavier University’s Physical Plant staff will be recognized today during the 172nd undergraduate commencement ceremony at Xavier’s Cintas Center. The honor will be a surprise to the Physical Plant staff who will be attending today’s ceremony.

During her commencement speech, Amber Beery, this year’s top graduating senior (also known as the John A. Elet, S.J. Scholar) will thank Xavier’s Physical Plant crew for all their hard work in not only keeping Xavier’s campus beauty, but for always being willing to help the students.

The recognition should happen at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Through the efforts of many talented and dedicated employees the Physical Plant department maintains 140 acres of grounds and 70 buildings which total more than 1,787,202 square feet of building area. Xavier was honored in 2006 by the Professional Grounds Management Society as number one in the country for urban university landscaping
