O'Connor Sports Center reopens with classes, fitness and facilities for Xavier and the general public

Discounts are available for faculty, staff, alumni and seniors | August 18, 2011

The O'Connor Sports Center is reopening for the fall semester on Monday Aug. 22 after a minor remodeling and is offering memberships to the general community and discounted memberships to Xavier employees, alumni and senior citizens.

All Xavier students registered for classes have access to the O'Connor Sports Center free of charge by presenting their valid All Card. But membership is also open to the general public. Rates are $425 per year for a single membership or $500 per year for a family membership and are discounted for Xavier alumni and senior citizens.

Located along Victory Parkway between the soccer and baseball fields, O’Connor features a six-lane, 25-meter indoor pool, a three-court gymnasium, a Hammer Strength room, Nautilus equipment, a cardiovascular room, two racquetball and handball courts, and showers and locker rooms. The center also offers personal trainers and group classes like yoga, Zumba, spinning, Total Body Conditioning and water aerobics.

O'Connor and other Recreational Sports Department facilities are available for rental by student groups, members and outside groups, including for family get-togethers or children’s swim parties.

As O’Connor is primarily a student facility, it is subject to closings and schedules that revolve around the University calendar. The center’s hours on Monday, Aug. 22, are 5:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Regular hours resume Tuesday, Aug. 23: Monday-Thursday, 5:45 a.m.-11:00 p.m.; Friday, 5:45 a.m.-7:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
