The interview aired on Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier" on Wednesday, Sept. 25 | September 25, 2013

Greg Smith, associate professor and chair of the Department of Management Information Systems, was featured on the Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier” on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in which he discussed Xavier's American Dream Composite Index.

Smith was interviewed by James Rosen, Fox’s chief Washington correspondent and host of the online show "The Foxhole."

The ADCI measures how Americans are really doing in their daily lives. Smith spoke with Rosen about the Index, its predictive capability, its potential impacts and the American Dream in general.

The data come from a monthly, quantitative index that surveys 1,000 people across the U.S. on issues pertaining to their financial, personal and societal wellbeing as well as their views on diversity and their physical environment. The survey asks for responses to 139 statements or questions on a five-point scale. The results can be broken down by a variety of demographics.

ADCI is a part of Xavier's Center for the Study of the American Dream. The Center was founded in 2007 by 1970 Xavier graduate Mike Ford. In 2008, three professors in the Williams College of Business: Smith, Amit Sen (economics) and Chris Manolis (marketing) began to develop the ADCI.
