Annual Security and Services Report shows a decrease in campus crime last year

| February 23, 2011

One of the most important aspects of campus living is the quality of safety offered by the University. Xavier makes every effort to ensure the safety of students living on campus and has added several new safety measures to the campus environment in recent years.

These include new and additional emergency phones at strategic locations across campus, converting to a card identification system for access to residence halls, and developing an enhanced XU Alert Me system to immediately notify students and employees of emergency situations.

The Xavier University Campus Police Department is pleased to release the 2010 Annual Security and Services Report which shows reports of campus crime dropped by 27 percent during 2010. The decrease in reported crime occurred at the same time the University was increasing campus-wide Community Oriented Policing initiatives. It also took place during a year in which Xavier had the most students living on campus and attending class in the University's history.

We hope everyone takes a few minutes to review this year's findings and help support Xavier's culture of safety. The report can also be viewed on Xavier's safety website.
