At the recent gathering of the International Thomas Merton Society in Chicago, Chris Pramuk was awarded the society’s highest honor, "The Thomas Merton Award," in recognition of his contributions to Merton scholarship, including his book and numerous scholarly articles. The award, a beautiful bronze bust of Merton, is affectionately known in Merton circles as a "Louie" - in honor of his monastic name, Fr. Louis, and with a whimsical nod to the "Oscars." It is given just every two years, and of course it was a real thrill for Chris to receive.
