Xavier helps Paint the Town in the ninth annual service project to paint neighborhood houses

The University is hosting the project site at the former Norwood Plaza | June 11, 2010

Xavier University is supporting Give Back Cincinnati's ninth annual Paint the Town service project taking place Saturday, June 12, in two neighborhoods, Avondale and Evanston, that are adjacent to the campus.

Xavier is a contributing partner and is hosting the site at the Norwood Plaza. Check-in starts at 8:00 a.m. at Norwood Plaza in the 3800 block of Montgomery Road for volunteers who will be painting 59 houses. Donations for the daylong project include food, painting supplies, ladders, t-shirts and water.

Paint the Town is a daylong event involving more than 1,600 residents helping to paint and repair houses in need of work. Volunteers work in teams led by experienced team leaders to paint a house. If needed, houses are prepped for painting prior to the day of the event.

Neighborhoods are chosen according to need, and qualified homeowners are encouraged to apply for the service. Community groups are instrumental in spreading the word about Paint the Town.

Paint the Town has painted a total of 202 houses in the communities of College Hill, East End, Price Hill, Northside, Madisonville, Hartwell/Carthage and Covington. To learn more about the project or to volunteer, visit the Give Back Cincinnati web site.
