Xavier Freshmen Gearing Up for First Year of College

Freshman Sendoffs being held across the country | August 4, 2008

Fall semester at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH doesn’t begin for a few more weeks, but the class of 2012 is already getting ready for their first year of college.
To help incoming freshmen, the Xavier University Parents Association and chapters of the Xavier University National Alumni Association are hosting Freshman Sendoffs.
Sendoffs are being held in 17 cities across the country including Dallas, St. Louis, Buffalo, Washington, D.C., Denver and Louisville. The gathering includes incoming freshmen, current students, alumni, family and friends and usually includes a picnic or barbeque either at a park or private home. The sendoffs began in July and will continue until mid-August.
“The sendoffs give new students the opportunity to meet each other as well as alumni from their hometown,” says Assistant Director for Alumni Chapters Tom Brady.
“Freshman Sendoffs are a great opportunity for parents to get answers to any last minute concerns they might have about sending their students off to college,” notes Executive Director for Parent Relations Dianne Fisk.

Xavier's class of 2012 will move into their new college homes on Friday, August 22. Classes begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25.
As a Catholic, Jesuit University, Xavier aims to provide all students with a supportive learning environment which offers opportunities for identifying personal needs, setting goals, and developing recreational and aesthetic interests and skills for daily living and leadership.
