Women's basketball team hosts fourth annual Youth Day game

Game supported by American Heart Association to encourage a 'healthy Xperience' | January 20, 2008

The women's basketball team is hosting "A Healthy Xperience” Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Cintas Center as the team takes on the St. Louis Billikens at noon. More than 5,800 students in grades 3-8 have participated in Xavier Youth Day during the last three years. This year the event is supported by the American Heart Association’s (AHA) cause campaign, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership with the William J. Clinton Foundation. The goal of the Alliance is to stop the nationwide increase in childhood obesity and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Xavier Youth Day begins when students arrive in their buses at 9:30 a.m. Xavier and the AHA will deliver a program including an educational message about the importance of staying healthy and being physically active. They will also hear from former Cincinnati Bengals kicker Doug Pelfrey, a Xavier student-athlete and coach, accompanied by D’Artagnan and the Blue Blob. Students will also be treated to on-court interactive contests and in-game promotions to get them involved.
