Education Expert Pedro Noguera to Speak at Xavier University

Will Address Issues of Educational Equity | November 5, 2007

On Tuesday, November 27 at 4:30 p.m., Xavier University’s School of Education will host a lecture by noted education scholar Pedro Noguera.

Noguera will address the state of educational equity in light of current social and public policy trends. The lecture will be held in the Cintas Center on Xavier’s campus. It is free and open to the public. For directions or more information, please call 513-745-3539.

An urban sociologist, Noguera is a professor in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University, as well as the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and the co-Director of the Institute for the study of Globalization and Education in Metropolitan Settings (IGEMS). An expert on issues of race and schooling, student achievement, school reform, immigration/migration, and urban schools, he has advised several large urban U.S. school districts, conducted research internationally, and authored a number of influential publications.
