Richard Raymond performs at Gallagher

Classical pianist plays music by Romantic composers | October 8, 2002

The classical piano, guitar and jazz series welcomes pianist Richard Raymond to campus on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Student Center theater. He is performing works by composers such as Beethoven, Schumann and Schubert. Raymond is an associate professor at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and received a master’s degree in interpretation from the University of Montreal. He was awarded first prize in solo performance and chamber music at the Quebec Conservatory of Music. He also received first prize at the Canadian music competition and was awarded the highest honors at the Canada National Radio competition for young performers. Raymond has performed with the symphony orchestras of Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City and Vancouver. He played in Germany at the Ruhr Klavier festival, in China with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and in Italy and France. As a chamber musician, he has performed at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal and at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Tickets for the show are $17 and $19.
