Hebrew Union chancellor, Xavier president discuss issues commemorating Kristallnacht

Dialogue takes place Monday, Nov. 6, at campus of Hebrew Union College | November 3, 2006

Rabbi Alfred Gottschalk, chancellor of Hebrew Union College, and University President Michael J. Graham, S.J., are engaging in dialogue to commemorate the 68th anniversary of Kristallnacht on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Mayerson Hall on the campus of Hebrew Union College located at 3101 Clifton Ave. in Cincinnati.

Gottschalk was just 8 years old when he witnessed the Kristallnacht pogrom in his town of Oberwesel, Germany. In the aftermath of the riots, he and his grandfather discovered pieces of their family’s Torah in a nearby brook and vowed to put the pieces back together. Today, his mission continues.

This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education and Xavier's Edward B. Brueggeman Center for Dialogue. For more information call 513 487-3055.
