Author Reza Aslan discussing future of Islam and its reformation

Aslan argues inevitable progression toward modernization, reform key factor fueling tension in Muslim world | November 1, 2006

Reza Aslan, author of No god but God, is speaking on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Schiff Family Conference Center. His presentation, “The Future of Islam: Toward the Islamic Reformation,” is sponsored by the Edward B. Brueggeman Center for Dialogue, the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University.

Aslan argues that the inevitable progression toward modernization and reform is a key factor fueling tension between moderates and extremists in the Muslim world. In Aslan’s view, for example, the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks weren’t primarily a clash with the West as it was a polarizing force in a century-old struggle.

Aslan has discussed his book on “Hardball,” “Meet the Press,” “Fresh Air” and “The Daily Show.” For more information contact Cynthia Cummins at 513 745-3922.
