Fulbright scholar from Bilkent University in Turkey to speak on gender, family in Islam

Sociologist Dilek Cindoglu studies democracy, health, sexuality issues in Middle East | January 23, 2006

Dilek Cindoglu, an assistant chair for the department of political science at Bilkent University in Turkey, is speaking on gender and family in Islam on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Schiff Family Conference Center. This event is free and open to the public.

Cindoglu is a sociologist working on gender, work, power, democracy, health and sexuality issues in the Middle East. She was a visiting fellow at the Center for Gender and Sexuality at New York University, senior fellow at St. Antony’s College at Oxford, and an honorary fellow and Fulbright scholar at the women’s studies research center of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
