Linda Chavez, president of the Center for Equal Opportunity, a non-profit public policy organization, and political analyst for FOX News Channel, is speaking on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 7:00 p.m. at the Schiff Family Conference Center.

Chavez is speaking on “The Changing Face of America.” Her presentation is part of the University's 2005-2006 Ethics/Religion (E/RS) lecture series.

Chavez is talking about ways in which Xavier and Cincinnati can respond ethically to the burgeoning Hispanic community. She is the author of the critically acclaimed book, An Unlikely Conservative: The Transformation of an Ex-Liberal and served as director of public liaison during President Ronald Reagan’s second term.

The theme for this year’s E/RS lecture series is “175 Years of Xavier in Cincinnati: Responding Ethically to the Changing Face of the Community.” Speakers are addressing leadership issues on this topic. The program format leads to informal discussion after the presentation.

The purpose of the program is to encourage ethical and/or religious analysis of socially significant issues.
