College fair hosts 150 schools at Cintas on Sunday

This weekend presents high school students the opportunity to get revved up about attending college. Whether students are interested in going to school in Cincinnati or as far away as Hawaii, they'll have the chance to have all their questions answered at the third annual Cincinnati area spring college fair on Sunday, March 9. The event runs from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. in the Cintas Center. In addition to representatives from Xavier, more than 150 nationally recognized universities are represented at the fair, including Creighton University, Fordham University, the University of Cincinnati, Miami University, the College of Mount St. Joseph, the University of Dayton, Colgate University, Hawaii Pacific University, DePaul University, Hanover College and Indiana University. Special interest sessions are being held on topics such as financial aid, collegiate athletics and the college search process. Also this weekend, the University's chamber orchestra is giving its spring concert on Saturday, March 8. The performance takes place in the Gallagher Student Center theater at 5:00 p.m. For more information e-mail or call 513 745-3864. The music continues on Sunday with classical pianist Jean-Philippe Collard performing at the Gallagher Student Center theater at 2:30 p.m. The musical award-winning Collard studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris and has performed with numerous orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He is performing pieces by Rachmaninoff, Scriabin and Chopin. Tickets are $19 and $17. There is a $3 senior citizen discount and students with an ID are free. For more information call 513 745-3161.
