Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to Speak at Xavier University

Ohio Secretary of State and Xavier University alumnus, Kenneth Blackwell will speak at the University on Tuesday, February 15 at the Cintas Center banquet room. Blackwell’s presentation is titled Adversity, Triumphs, and Lessons Learned and is part of the University’s observance of Black History Month. The program begins with a reception and benediction at 3:30 p.m. Blackwell is scheduled to speak at 4:05 p.m.

Secretary Blackwell will speak of his personal history, growing up in Cincinnati, succeeding academically and athletically at Xavier University, and gaining election to a series of municipal and state offices.

Following his presentation, those in attendance will share their personal histories with people at their tables, with discussion guided by a trained facilitator. The goal is to promote civil and respectful dialogue among the races by gaining a better understanding of each others’ personal histories.
