Tara Boothe scores career high

Freshman continues to make impact, but team can't overcome Mississippi State | January 3, 2003

Freshman Tara Boothe continues to make an impact for the women's basketball team, scoring a career-high 22 points last night during the Musketeers' game against No. 17 Mississippi State. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough as the team suffered a loss to the Lady Bulldogs, 78-64. The team falls to 7-3 on the season. Boothe scored on seven of her 11 shots from the field, and eight of 10 from the free throw line. Amy Waugh added 21 points and Reetta Piipari 10. The trio combined for 53 of the team's 64 points. Xavier got off to a slow start, making just seven of its 22 shots in the first half. The team made 50 percent of its shots in the second half, but Mississippi State had a 17 point lead by halftime and Xavier couldn't catch up. The Musketeers will close out their nonconference schedule at the Cintas Center on Sunday, Dec. 5, in a 2:00 p.m. against Columbia University.
