Student’s solo art exhibit debuts at Hyde Park restaurant

Xavier’s Society of Visual Arts presents the second installment of work by University art students | July 15, 2004

The Xavier University Society of Visual Arts (SVA) presents the first solo exhibit by senior art major Liz Kauffman. Titled Dreams, the show features a series of large pastel paintings.

Kauffman, who is also the SVA president, maintains a studio at the Stewart Iron Works complex in Covington, Ky. Her work has already been included in regional professional exhibitions.

University art students formed the SVA in 2003 to provide an environment where students have the opportunity to practice, express and utilize their knowledge and passion for art and creativity outside the context of the classroom.

The SVA mission emphasizes the arts through community service and spreads its appreciation and spirit of art throughout the University and surrounding community by fostering an awareness of creative culture.

Kauffman’s exhibit opened on July 12 and will run through October 2 at the Echo Restaurant in Hyde Park. All works are available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds of all sales will benefit the SVA.
