In addition to the postseason basketball announcements, it was a busy weekend in the world of Xavier sports.

The rifle team finished fifth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament, just 19 points out of second place. This was the team's sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Championship, where it has finished second twice, third once and fourth once. The University of Alaska-Fairbanks won the title for the sixth straight year.

In the Virgin Islands this weekend, the women's golf team finished tied for fifth with Boston College and the University of Notre Dame in the 14-team St. Croix Collegiate Classic. Xavier hosted the event. Southern Methodist University and Baylor University finished first and second in the tournament. Xavier's next match is against Baylor in the Baylor Tapatio Springs Shootout in Boernk, Texas, this weekend.

The women's tennis team also continued its winning ways, beating DePauw University 8-1, losing only one doubles match. The team moves to 13-2 overall on the season, and senior Kate Weightman recorded the 79th win of her career. The senior from Tomball, Texas, is now tied for the career leader in singles wins of 79 set by Heidi Pacella in 1996.

The men's tennis team also beat DePauw, 4-3, on Friday, but lost on Sunday to Belmont. Xavier is 9-7 on the season.

Finally, the baseball team took two out of three games from Western Michigan University over the weekend.
