Campus gears up for coat and clothing drive

Basketball, chamber concert also part of holiday weekend activities | November 26, 2002

With the Thanksgiving holiday closing campus on Thursday and Friday, campus life is slowing down a bit. Still, a few University events are happening. On Friday, Nov. 29, the women’s basketball team travels to the High Plains to participate in the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational. The team plays at 7:00 p.m. against Louisiana Monroe. The game is being televised on ESPN. The team then plays against either Colorado State or Davidson University on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 7:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. For more information, call 513 745-3414. On Sunday, Dec. 1, the University’s chamber orchestra and choir host their holiday concert in the Gallagher Student Center theater at 7:00 p.m. For more information, e-mail or call 513 745-3801. And the Xavier University St. Vincent de Paul Society is gearing up for a coat and clothing drive for the holiday season. Beginning Monday, Dec. 2, boxes will be placed around campus for donations of new or gently worn clothing or coats. All collected items will be donated to needy families to ensure that the less-fortunate stay warm during the winter. The collection ends on Friday, Dec. 13. For a complete list of campus activities, visit the Xavier calendar web site.
