All-sports preview night to rally Musketeer fans

Athletics director to give “State of Xavier Athletics” address, All For One Club to kick off | September 16, 2003

Xavier fans, friends, faculty and family are invited to show their support for Xavier athletics by attending the first all sports preview night tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the Cintas Center from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

The evening features a “State of Xavier Athletics” address by Mike Bobinski, associate vice president and director of athletics. Bobinski also is introducing head coaches and spotlighting some of the players for the upcoming athletic seasons. On a larger scale, he will present a view of the changing landscape of conference affiliation nationwide.

The reorganized All For One Club, the official support club of the department of athletics, also will launch at the preview event. Funds generated through the All For One Club benefit all 15 intercollegiate sports, most of which don’t generate enough revenue to be self-supporting. One important goal is to enable each team to have a full-time coach; currently only one-third of the University’s head coaches are full-time. Dan Cloran, director for annual fund and athletic giving, says donations through the club offset operating costs for teams, fund tournaments, provide for better and safer travel, and allow for more effective recruiting, to name a few.

The cost of the event is $20 per person and includes drinks and hors d’oeuvres. For more information or to sign up, contact Donna Kunkel at 513 745-2080 or Diane Alexander at 513 745-3571. For more details on the All For One Club, visit or contact Cloran at 513 745-1031.
