Xavier @ T-Town Throwdown 10
Xavier's B.L.O.B. traveled down south to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the annual T-Town Throwdown tournament on the campus of the University of Alabama. Xavier found a great deal of success at this tournament, finishing with a record of 6-2 and achieving quality victories over D-I teams Alabama, Indiana, and Vanderbilt, as well as D-III contender Harding.
On Saturday, in pool play, Xavier went undefeated by beating Vanderbilt 11-4, Mississippi State 11-8, Harding 12-4, and ended the day with a competitive, to-the-end finish on Universe Point against Southern Mississippi 10-9. B.L.O.B. was clicking on all cylinders on Saturday, rolling to two big victories against Vanderbilt and Harding. Xavier, however, fell behind 3-1 in their final game of the day against Southern Mississippi, and the winner of the game would be the winner of the whole pool. B.L.O.B. rallied behind one another for a huge comeback victory to take first in the pool.
On Sunday, Xavier was paired with Indiana in the pre-quarterfinals round. Xavier had lost to Indiana twice at Steel City Showdown in November, so B.L.O.B. was seeking revenge on the Hoosiers. After a highly intense and back-and-forth game, Xavier triumphed by a score of 15-13, knocking Indiana out of the championship bracket. Xavier then headed into the quarterfinal round against Arkansas, battle of the only two remaining undefeated teams. The Razorbacks, however, got the best of Xavier and won 15-5.
Xavier ended the tournament by splitting their last two games against Alabama (13-8) and Kennessaw State (6-11). Overall, B.L.O.B. competed against some quality D-I and D-III competition and displayed that they have the ability to compete at a high level against solid opponents.
