XU MBAs Consult to Launch Regional Aquaponics Venture; Opportunity Continues for 10 More MBAs in the Second Summer Term

XU MBAs put their education to work while gaining academic credit & business skills for their career growth.

In the first XU MBA summer session (May - June) a team of 4 MBA students consulted to launch a regional aquaponics business that is located in the Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati.

The consulting was done as part of the ENTR 668 course, which places small businesses with MBA students.  As the class was offered in the first summer session, the consulting experience was condenscened to two months.  And in the course of just two months, the Xavier MBA students:

  • assesed the first-pass business plan
  • captured an associated business model
  • identified / prioritized a list of the highest priority customers and potential investors
  • utilized a strategic selling process in preparation for a face-to-face meeting with the top priority customer
  • participated in the actual customer meeting
  • developed the financials for the business.

And, as the summer term continues, Professors Joe Carter (Dir. of the XU Sedler Ctr for Entrepreneurship) and Bill Boyce are looking for 10 more XU MBA students interested in continuing the consulting and taking the services provided to the next level.  The timeframe of the consulting will be from July to August.

If you are a Xavier MBA wanting to experience the field of consulting and learn the consulting process all the while applying what you learn to help your aquaponics client, this is the opportunity for you.

In helping your client you will prepare and participate in customer and investor meetings, refine their business model and business plans (includinf the financials, while having a lot of fun. The aquaponics business is modeled after a business launched in Cleveland. To learn more about it visit the following link:
