Suzanne Michele Chouteau

Suzanne Michele Chouteau received her BA in Art from Saint Ambrose University in 1983. She earned her MA (1985) and MFA (1988) degrees in Printmaking from The University of Iowa, where she studied with Mauricio Lasansky, Keith Achepohl and Robert Glasgow. To finance her studies, Chouteau worked professionally as an illustrator/graphic designer at The University of Iowa Foundation. Her UI Foundation work garnered numerous awards from the national design associations of UCDA and CASE, and included selection to the PRINT Magazine Design Annual's andquot;Best of the Midwest.andquot; In 1988, Chouteau joined the Xavier University Department of Art faculty where she is now Professor teaching courses in printmaking, design and art history. Her prints, drawings, paintings, and mixed-media combinations have been shown in over 70 solo, invitational, and juried exhibitions in the United States including The 15th Annual Greater Midwest International Exhibition, Pressed and Pulled IX, the 28th Bradley National, and the 16th Los Angeles Printmaking Society's National Biennial. She is a member of the Southern Graphics Council, Mid-America Print Council, Los Angeles Printmaking Society, and the College Art Association. She is married to Chris Bedel, Director of the Cincinnati Museum Center's Edge of Appalachia Preserve. They live with their son, Elijah Bird Bedel, on the preserve in Adams County, Ohio.
