Xavier Named 2012 Best Value in Private Institutions
Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine lists Xavier in its annual ranking of the nation's "best values" among private colleges for 2011-2012. In its December issue, Kiplinger's ranks 100 private universities that combine outstanding education with economic value. The annual report includes Yale, Harvard, Notre Dame, Georgetown and Dartmouth.

Jason Kokrak Secures a PGA Tour Position
Jason Kokrak is the first alumnus in Xavier history to earn PGA Tour privileges with a fifth-place finish in Charleston, S.C. The former Xavier men's golf standout earned his PGA TOUR card by finishing at four-under par for a tie for fifth at the Nationwide Tour Championship in late October.

MBA Program Gets a Nod from Princeton Review
The MBA programs in the University's Williams College of Business are showcased in the 2012 edition of The Princeton Review's annual publication, "The Best 294 Business Schools." This is the eighth year the college has been included.

Xavier Men's Team Ranked 14th by Associated Press
The Xavier men's basketball squad has been ranked 14th in the preseason Associated Press Poll. Earlier in the month, XU was chosen 15th in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Xavier ranked 20th in the final Associated Press Poll at the end of last season, and is one of only five schools that have made the Associated Press Final Poll in each of the last four seasons: XU, Duke, Kansas, Purdue and Pittsburgh. In other news: Preseason favorite Xavier was picked to win a 6th-straight Atlantic 10 regular season title in the conference's media and coaches poll.

Men's Soccer Team Wins Its First Nationwide Ranking
Men's soccer received its first national ranking by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Also: For the second straight year, the men's soccer team has earned the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. It marks the first time that Xavier has gone to back-to-back A-10 Tournaments.

Get Your Xavier License Plates Now
This just in from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles: A customer may choose to support Xavier or any Ohio college or university by displaying license plates with the respective school's brand. A portion of the fees collected ($25) is deposited in the general scholarship fund of the college/university that a customer selects

Benjamin Urmston, S.J., Honored at Freedom Fund Dinner
The Cincinnati Chapter of the NAACP presented its Fair and Courageous Award to Benjamin J. Urmston, S.J., professor emeritus of Peace and Justice Programs at Xavier, at the 56th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner at the Duke Energy Convention Center in mid-October.

Head of the Fed Speaks at Xavier on Economy
Cincinnati Federal Reserve boss LaVaughn Henry spoke at Xavier in mid-October. The Jesuit-educated Henry addressed faculty, students and alumni at the Williams College of Business "Distinguished Speaker Series"at Cintas Center. The top banker's topic: "Lessons Learned: Monetary Policy and Recovery from the Great Recession."

Alumni Chapters Gear Up for Crosstown Shootout
Our Xavier alumni chapters are getting ready for this year's Crosstown Shootout with viewing parties on Saturday, Dec. 10. Join Xavier alumni, family and fans to cheer on the Musketeers and win prizes.

• Xavier alumni, come fill the student section again! For men's basketball home games during the holiday breaks, you can purchase student section tickets for only $20 each: Nov. 25, vs. Georgia, Dec. 18, vs. Oral Roberts, and Dec. 31 vs. Gonzaga. Call (513) 745-3411, ext. 7.

• Alumni are also encouraged to check out the road game pre-game receptions being held in different cities across the country such as Vanderbilt in Nashville on Nov. 28.

Xavier Communion Sunday will be celebrated in several of our chapters on Sunday, Dec. 4 (near the feast day of St. Francis Xavier).

• The All-for-One Battalion ROTC Shrine of our Lady Rededication on Sunday, Dec. 11, will honor the memories of CPT Matthew Mattingly, Class of 1998, and 1LT Michael Runyan, Class of 2008.
