Congressman and 1977 Xavier alumnus John Boehner is set to become Speaker of the House in January, making him one of the most powerful people in America. Boehner, who is on the cover of the most recent issue of Time magazine, spoke at Xavier in 2006 when he received an honorary degree from the University. He was also featured in Xavier magazine in 2003. |

Basketball season begins with Madness, free tickets
The men's and women's basketball seasons kicked off once again with Musketeer Madness, which included the results of the Decade of Dominance poll. Xavier is starting its season by offering free tickets to military veterans to the men's game on Friday, Nov. 12. The latest issue of Xavier magazine is now available online and includes many web-only articles, including "Linneman's prayer," a feature about one alum's days as a prisoner of war, copies of the war letters by Fr. O'Connor, "Book marks," which details some of the books written by alumni, and "What you might have missed," a collection of other stories about Xavier and its alumni. |

Photography director takes aim at documenting Cheyenne
Greg Rust, Xavier's director for photography, made friends with some Cheyenne Indians from Montana and, as a service project, began documenting life among the tribe. For Native American Heritage Month in November, he put together an audio slideshow offering an inside look at reservation living.
