George Clooney shoots new film on campus
George Clooney brought Hollywood to Xavier in February, with the shooting of his new political thriller, "Ides of March." Alongside Clooney, the film will star Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Xavier will play itself in the film, which is scheduled to be released Oct. 14, 2011. Look for scenes from the Cintas Center.
Xavier names new provost and chief academic officer
Scott Chadwick is the University's new provost and chief academic officer, beginning July 1. He succeeds current Academic Vice President and Provost Roger Fortin, who is stepping down this summer and returning to the classroom after 10 years in his post.
Men and women Muskies prepare for March Madness
The men's and women's teams have both clinched their A-10 regular season titles. Again. What's more? Xavier is hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA women's tournament in the Cintas Center, March 20 and 22. Buy tickets and see the schedule online. WorldCom whistleblower talks ethics at Xavier
Cynthia Cooper, one of Time magazine's 2002 Persons of the Year, is the next keynote speaker for Xavier's Heroes of Professional Ethics series. In 2002, Cooper helped uncover a $3.8 billion fraud at WorldCom—the largest corporate fraud in history. Cooper speaks at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, in the Schiff Conference Center at the Cintas Center. The event is free, but seating is limited; attendants must RSVP to Shirlee James before noon, March 21.

Bobinski explains NCAA Tournament selection process
Selecting a new pope is an intricate process involving a conclave, secret ballots and colored smoke. Choosing NCAA tournament teams is far more complicated. Happily, Athletic Director Mike Bobinski belongs to the 10-member NCAA Tournament selection committee and demystifies the process in a series of Musketeer Reports beginning on Feb. 8, 2011.

Campus crime drops by 27 percent
Xavier Police reports a 27 percent drop in crime last year, according to the 2010 Annual Security and Services Report. The decrease occurs as the University implements more Community Oriented Policing initiatives. View the full report on Xavier's safety website.
Tom Eiser celebrates quarter century with Xavier athletics
Tom Eiser, a reformed Notre Dame fan and Xavier's associate athletic director of media relations, can now claim 25 years as a Musketeer. During his tenure here, Eiser has helped the athletic program garner national recognition. He graduated from Xavier in 1984 with a degree in English and communications. "I enjoy playing a part in creating the special place I call my second home, Xavier University," Eiser says.

Calling all marketing alumni for April reunion
The Williams College of Business is hosting a reunion for Marketing alumni from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. April 8, 2011, in the atrium of Smith Hall. RSVP before March 25, with your name and graduation year, and indicate if you were a BSBA or MBA student.
